A Brief History of Phillips Creek Ranch

Dash4Cash

One of the greatest things about Phillips Creek Ranch is the amazing history behind the land. Phillips Ranch was created in 1936 after B.F. Phillips Sr. purchased only 640 acres east of FM 423 to run his cattle business. However, the legacy of Phillips Ranch did not lie in cattle. Instead in the early 1950s, B.F. Phillips Jr., who took control of the ranch in the late 1940s, decided to take a chance and focus his efforts on raising quarter horses.

Phillips became a world famous breeder and trainer of quarter horses, but one horse in particular solidified his status as an elite trainer of race horses. Dash for Cash was awarded “Champions of Champions” in both 1976 and 1977, and to this day is the only horse to have ever won the title twice. In 1997, Dash for Cash was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame

Under the watchful eye of B.F. Phillips, the ranch grew to be more than 1,800 acres, and was host to many high-profile fundraisers and social events, including the Cattle Barons’ Ball. The family sold the land in the late 1990s. In 2008, Republic Property Group saw the amazing potential for development, and purchased the historic ranch in order to create a master-planned community that would keep true to the heritage of the ranch.

Bronze & Beautiful

One of Frisco’s best kept secrets is the incredible art culture the city has incorporated into its landscape. With over 150 outdoor sculptures displayed across the city in parks and gardens, a vibrant art scene has been successfully instilled in Frisco. The Centre at Preston Ridge and Central Park in Frisco are both home to collections of bronze cattle sculptures.

Phillips Creek Ranch has now added 22 more bronze sculptures to the Frisco landscape, all of which are life-sized depictions of horses in honor of the quarter horses that used to occupy the internationally known Phillips Ranch. The bronze horse sculptures weigh in over 1,000 pounds and were finished by a local Dallas sculpture artist.
